Using Ring Alarm Pro during power and internet outages

Ring Alarm Pro has many backup options to help you keep your property safe and your busy life running smoothly when the power or internet goes out. But to keep your Alarm Pro on and online during outages, you need the right combination of products and services.

To make this easier, here’s what you need to know:

  • If you want to use Ring Alarm Pro when there’s no power source available, you’ll need one or more Ring Power Packs.
  • The internal battery inside the Ring Alarm Base Station has a limited capacity. To conserve power, when the internal battery is in use Alarm Pro will shut down most Alarm functionality and turn off wifi, even if you have a working internet connection. You will only be able to arm and disarm, and Ring Alarm will be triggered by an alarming event.
  • To use Ring Alarm Pro without a working internet connection from an internet provider (like a cable company) you’ll need to subscribe to Ring Protect Pro. This will give you 3GB of cellular data each month, and if you opt in to Extra Data, you’ll get as much data as you need.
  • If you run out of data or you are running on the internal battery, Ring Alarm Pro will switch to Alarm Cellular Backup. This will provide you with limited alarm features, and no wifi service.
