How to Fix Ineligible Cameras in Ring Edge

Ring Edge lets you store and process videos captured on your Ring device locally rather than in the Cloud (Ring Protect Pro subscription required, sold separately).

In some cases, your Ring device might not be eligible to enroll in Ring Edge.

Learn how to store and process videos locally with Ring Edge.

Here are the most likely reasons your camera could be ineligible to enroll:

Ineligible camera model

The following devices do not support Ring Edge:

  • Video Doorbell (1st Gen)
  • Discontinued versions of Stick Up Cam
    • Stick Up Cam (1st Gen)
  • Indoor Cam (2nd Gen)
  • Car Cam

Not sure which device you have? Learn how to find out in the Ring app.

If your device is not listed above, ineligibility may be caused by:

End-to-End Encryption being used

If your camera is using Video End-to-End Encryption, this can make some other features—including Ring Edge—unavailable. Disabling it may fix your device's ineligibility issue.

Needs Ring Protect Plan subscription

The Ring Edge feature is only active when subscribed to a Ring Protect plan. In this case, subscribing to a plan can fix your camera's ineligibility issue.

Firmware update required

To use Ring Edge, your camera needs to be running the latest firmware version from Ring. If this is the issue, updating your firmware can fix your camera's ineligibility.
