You can draw your own custom Motion Zones for your video doorbell or security camera in the Ring app so your device can focus on the specific areas that are most important to you.
To access Motion Zones, go to Motion Settings on your Ring app and edit the zones by dragging the dots and creating unique shapes to monitor a specific area.
How to Add and Edit Motion Zones directly in your Ring app:
1. Go to the Ring app.
2. Tap on the three lines (≡) on the left side of your dashboard.
3. Tap on Devices and select your device.
4. Under Motion Settings, go to Advanced Settings.
5. Make sure that Advanced Motion Detection is set to “On.”
6. Now you can Edit Motion Zones.
7. To edit Motion Zones:
- Tap on Add Zones.
- Tap on Edit Zones.
With Motion Zones, you can easily customize the area you would like to focus in on by drawing up to three different free-form shapes.

Once you’ve drawn your Motion Zones and adjusted the motion sensitivity slider, the changes will take effect the next time the device detects motion. To apply your changes immediately, simply walk in front of your camera to trigger the motion sensors.
To adjust the motion sensitivity of your device, follow these steps:
1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap on the three lines (≡) on the left side of your dashboard.
3. Tap on Devices and select your device.
4. Tap on Motion Settings.
5. Tap on Motion Sensitivity to adjust the range of motion for your device.
6. Use the slider to adjust motion detection sensitivity.
7. Slide to the left if you get too many Motion Alerts.
8. Slide toward the right if you tend to miss motion events and want more alerts.
