Ring Video Doorbell on a modern home.

Guidelines for Hardwiring Your Ring Video Doorbell

Installation by a qualified electrician may be required in your area. Refer to your local laws and building codes before performing electrical work; permits plus professional installation may be required by law. For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the ranges specified below or compatible Ring accessories to power your device.

To connect to an existing doorbell system, use:

  • Ring battery doorbells and Ring Video Doorbell Elite: Hardwired transformer (8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA).
  • Ring Video Doorbell Wired: Hardwired transformer (8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 8VA to 40VA).
  • Ring Video Doorbell Pro and Pro 2: Hardwired transformer (16 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 10VA to 40VA).

Ring accessories are sold separately and may include:

  • DIN Rail Transformer (24Vdc, 420mA)
  • Plug-In Adapter (24Vdc, 500mA)
  • Solar Charger (5.2Vdc, 100mA or 109mA)
  • Solar Panel (5Vdc, 380mA/480mA/800mA)

Important: Ring Video Doorbells and DC power

Newer Ring Video Doorbells come with DC power supplies instead of AC. These have been designed specifically for Ring Video Doorbells and have additional safety features not found in other DC supplies to ensure that you do not damage your Video Doorbell or power supply.
