Understanding and Using Motion Verification on Ring Devices

Motion verification is a special feature of Ring Devices that you can use to help filter out false positives and send out notifications only when motion has been verified by the system.

What is the motion verification feature?
Motion verification is a special feature in certain Ring devices that uses a special algorithm and your own device's video data to verify that a notification should be sent to you by making sure that a detected motion is legitimate. Using it can cut down on the number of false positives and mistaken notifications you get sent by your Ring device. 

How do I activate and deactivate the motion verification system?
To activate and deactivate the motion verification system, follow these instructions: 

Activation

  • Open the Ring app. and tap the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard.
  • Tap Devices.
  • Tap the device that you want to adjust for Motion Verification.
  • Tap Motion Setting.
  • Tap Motion Verification.
  • Tap the Motion Verification toggle.
  • Confirm that you wish to turn the system on.

Deactivation

  • Open the Ring app. and tap the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard.
  • Tap Devices.
  • Tap the device that you want to adjust for Motion Verification.
  • Tap Motion Setting.
  • Tap Motion Verification.
  • Tap the motion verification toggle.
  • Confirm that you wish to turn the system off.
