What is Pre-Roll?
The Pre-Roll feature enables you to view more complete motion events with your Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus. Ring Video Doorbell Plus 3 Pre-Roll will capture motion four seconds before a motion event is triggered. After the four seconds of activity are recorded, they will be attached to the event clip. If you are subscribed to a Ring Protect plan you will get a video of the event allowing you to have a better look at what's happening outside your door.
Do I need to replace my Ring Video Doorbell (1st and 2nd generation) or Ring Video Doorbell 2 with Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus?
No. The original Ring Video Doorbell and Ring Video Doorbell 2 will continue to work as normal and will continue to be supported by Ring.
Does Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus work with other Ring devices?
Yes. Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus works with any other device created by Ring and can perform all the functions expected of a video doorbell in a security system.

Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is usable with earlier Video Doorbell’s charging cables. Mounting brackets, wedge/corner pieces and solar mounts are not backwards compatible. There is a solar mount available as a separate purchase.

Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus will only use cellular data when it’s activated by an event, recording an event, or when you access Live View via the Ring app. If the Video Doorbell 3 Plus doesn’t detect motion or isn’t activated with the app, it won’t use your data.
