Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), Plug-In Troubleshooting

Follow these solutions if you're experiencing issues with Stick Up Cam Plug-In (3rd Gen).

To navigate to controls for any Ring device in the Ring app:

  1. Tap
    menu
    (☰)
  2. Tap
    Devices
    • Tap a Ring device to go to the device dashboard
  3. Use the tiles to navigate to different controls 

Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) is updating

The first update after your camera installs will take longer than future updates. Your camera will tell you when the update is complete.

Plugged in camera not working 

  • Try a different outlet.
    • The one you’re using may not be working or is associated with a light switch.
  • If the camera is not powering on, unplug the cord from the back of the camera and then plug it back in to reboot.
    • Then, hold the setup button for 20 seconds, then release.

Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) not connecting to wifi

  • Make sure your Stick Up Cam is powered on, plugged in and that the plugs are secure.
  • Try a different outlet. 
  • Close and reopen the Ring app.
  • Restart your router and run through the set up process again.

Stick Up Cam is offline

  • Check to make sure your Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) is powered on and plugged in.
  • Restart your router and run through the setup process again. Make sure you're close to your router and have your wifi password handy. 
  • Check the last reported signal strength for your Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) in the Ring app. If it’s poor, you may need to move the camera closer to your router or consider using a Chime Pro wifi extender.

Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) doesn't record sound

  • Verify the audio streaming and recording toggle in your app is turned on. 
  • Make sure your phone volume is turned up. 
  • Hold the setup button on the top of your camera for 20 seconds, wait 1 minute, then test audio again. 
  • Unplug Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) for 20 seconds, plug it in again, then test the audio.

Improve sound quality for Stick Up Cam

  • Bring your Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) near your router and trigger an event. If the sound improves, you may want to add a Chime Pro wifi extender to improve connectivity. 
    • If the sound does not improve, try holding the setup button down for 20 seconds and testing again. 
  • Unplug Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) for 20 seconds, plug it in again, then test audio. 

Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) doesn't detect people at night.

Make sure the Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) infrared lights are toggled on in the Ring app.

Note: If your camera is facing a window, the infrared lights will need to stay off.
