Fixing offline devices

If your Ring device falls offline, you will not be able to view live video, get alerts, or record events around your home. Learn how to figure out why your device may be offline, and how to get it back online.

Checking if your device is offline

There are a few ways to tell if your Ring device is offline:

  • Check the device in the Ring app. You'll see an offline icon over the device's camera tile. Tap the icon to see an error code (e.g. "P1-65") and troubleshooting steps.
  • Look at the
    section in the Ring app. This will show the current status of your device.
  • Check for notifications. You may receive a push notification, text message or email alerting you that your device is offline.

Reconnecting your device

If your device is offline, try these steps to reconnect it:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.

  3. Tap your device's Settings.

  4. Tap the Device Health tile.

  5. Under Network, tap
    Reconnect
    or
    Change Network
    and follow the prompts.

Improving connectivity

If your device keeps disconnecting from the internet, try these tips:

If you're still having issues, check your overall network health. Restart your router and modem, test your internet speed, and consider upgrading your wifi setup (like switching to an eero mesh system).

Using more than one router with Ring

Having more than one wifi router can cause connection problems with Ring devices. Choose one of these fixes:

  • Keep just one router, and remove the old one.
  • Ask your internet provider or router manufacturer how to setup Bridge mode.
