To reconnect a Ring video doorbell or security camera to your wifi network:
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap the menu (≡).
- Tap Devices and select the doorbell or camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi.
- Tap the Device Health tile.
- Under Network, tap Change Network and follow the prompts in the app.
- Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in Device Health to confirm it has successfully reconnected.
Do not use for Ring Alarm.
The instructions above are only for Ring doorbells and cameras.
Remember, wifi passwords are case sensitive. If you don't know your wifi password, it might be printed on the bottom or side of your router.
If you have a continuous problem with your device disconnecting from wifi or a weak signal, you could try moving your router. If it's obstructed by furniture, walls, doors, or other dense material, signal strength and performance could be reduced.
Reconnect a Security Camera mounted on a wall or out of reach
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap the menu (≡) in the top left.
- Tap Devices and select the camera you'd like to reconnect.
- Tap the Device Health tile.
- Under Network, tap Change Network.
- Tap Change Wifi Network, then follow the steps in the app.
- You can choose to use Movement or the Setup Button to reconnect.
- If your camera is too high to easily access the button, choosing Movement will reconnect your device to wifi by using the camera's Motion Detection.
- Tap Continue and follow the prompts in the app to reconnect.
- Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in Device Health to confirm it has successfully reconnected.
Quick Tip
If you're frequently experiencing wifi performance issues or poor device signal strength, adding a Ring Chime Pro may help. The Chime Pro acts as both a wifi extender and an audible doorbell chime for your Ring devices. If there is significant distance between your router and Ring device, placing the Chime Pro partway between them can improve performance.
Once you've set up your Chime Pro, you can follow the steps above to reconnect to the Chime Pro Network.
Change your wifi network, if applicable. If you have upgraded from a 2.4 GHz network to a 5 GHz network, your Ring device may not be able to find the 5 GHz network because it is not compatible with 5 GHz.
Some Ring devices can connect to 5 GHz via channels 100 and above. Channels 32-48 are not available in Canada.

Possible causes of wifi disconnections and other network issues
- There could be an internet service disruption in your area.
- Your wifi network name changed or your wifi network password has changed.
- You switched from a 2.4 GHz network to a 5 GHz network and your Ring device is not compatible with 5 GHz. Try re-enabling the 2.4 GHz network—all Ring doorbells and security cameras are compatible with 2.4 GHz networks.
- Physical obstructions between your Ring device and wifi router, such as large metal appliances, multiple walls, heavy furniture, or concrete, stone, or other dense building materials.
- A blown fuse, power outage, or loss of backup power to the device or router.
- If you have a Floodlight Cam that is connected to a light switch or a timer, make sure the switch is set to “on” or the timer is working so the camera receives power.
