Using the Snapshot Capture Feature
Get the most out of Snapshot Capture¹ by learning how to activate, view, delete, download snapshots and change the frequency with which snapshots are taken.
Important: Snapshot Capture is a Ring Protect feature. View ring.com/protect-plans for pricing and details.
Snapshots are viewable in the Event History Timeline in the Ring app. Snapshots cannot be viewed from the Ring website.
How to enable Snapshot Capture
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapDevices.
- Tap the desired device.
- TapDevice Settings.
- TapSnapshot Capture.
- Toggle on the Snapshot Capture feature to activate.
- Select Snapshot Frequency time.
- TapSavein the upper right.
Note: Snapshot Capture photos are stored in the cloud for 7 days if you have a Ring Protect Basic subscription, and up to 14 days if you have a Ring Protect Plus or Pro subscription.
How to view snapshots
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapDevices.
- Tap the device whose snapshots you wish to view.
- TapLive View.
- Scroll to the left to see previous snapshots.
How to delete snapshots
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapDevices.
- Select the device whose snapshots you wish to delete.
- Review theEvent History.
- TapActions.
- Select the snapshot you want to delete.
- TapDeleteto remove the selected snapshot.
- TapDelete Allto remove all of the snapshots.
- TapDeleteto confirm you want to remove the snapshot.
How to download snapshots²
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapDevices.
- Tap the desired device.
- Tap theEvent Historytile.
- Tap themenu (•••)for the snapshot you wish to download.
- TapDownloadfrom the menu.
How to change the Snapshot Capture frequency
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapDevices.
- Tap the desired device you want to change.
- TapDevice Settings.
- TapSnapshot Capture.
- Select the frequency with which snapshots will be taken.
- TapSave.
Note: Increasing the snapshot frequency on a battery-operated device will reduce battery life.
