How to Inspect the Peephole Cam's Flex Cable

If you're having trouble with your Peephole Cam (Door View Cam), it's possible the flex cable was damaged during the installation of the device.

Damaged flex cable signs

Depending on where the damage to your flex cable is, you may experience a variety of issues including:

1. You're getting black videos but the device still wakes up for button presses and door knocks.
2. The LED light on the front lights up when you press the button but there's no ding tone on your mobile device, even though Ring Alerts are turned on.
3. The infrared camera isn't turning on at night even though the infrared lights setting is turned on.
4. The device isn't detecting motion even though Motion Detection and Motion Alerts are on.
5. Pressing the front button has no effect.
6. The LED light isn't turning on, but when you press the front button you get an alert on your mobile device.

How to access the Flex Cable

1. Remove the battery cover from the indoor portion of the Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) by pinching it from both sides and pulling it towards you. The cover should pop right off without any force being applied.
2. Slide the battery out of the bottom of your Peephole Cam (Door View Cam).
3. Gently grasp the plastic connector on the end of the cable and remove it from the connector port.

Important! The cable is fragile, so be careful not to bend it too much or tear it when removing it from the connector port.

Inspect the flex cable

The following images show the most common types of damage a flex cable may experience. If you see any of these, replace the cable immediately.

• A full tear at any point in the cable.

• A partial tear along the length of the cable. This most commonly occurs on the indoor half of the device but can happen where the outdoor half makes contact with the door.

• A dent on the cable on the indoor half of the device.

• A dent along the length of the cable, most commonly on the indoor half of the device.

• Shearing along the edges, most commonly caused by jagged or sharp edges as the cable passes through the door.

Signes d'un câble flexible endommagé

2. Le voyant DEL à l'avant s'allume lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton, mais aucune tonalité ne retentit sur votre appareil mobile, même si les notifications Ring sont activées.
3. La caméra infrarouge ne s'allume pas la nuit même si la fonctionnalité des lumières infrarouges est activée.
4. L'appareil ne détecte aucun mouvement même si la fonction de détection de mouvements et les notifications de mouvements sont activées.
5. Le fait d'appuyer sur le bouton avant n'a aucun effet.
6. Le voyant DEL ne s'allume pas, mais lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton avant, vous recevez une alerte sur votre appareil mobile.

Comment accéder au câble flexible?

1. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment à batterie de la partie intérieure de la Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) en le pinçant des deux côtés et en le tirant vers vous. Le couvercle devrait se décoller immédiatement sans forcer.
2. Faites glisser la batterie hors de la partie inférieure de votre Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) .
3. Saisissez avec précaution le connecteur en plastique à l'extrémité du câble et retirez-le du port.

Remarque : Le câble est fragile, veillez donc à ne pas trop le plier ni l’endommager lorsque vous le retirez du port de connecteur.

Inspection du câble flexible

Les images suivantes illustrent les types de dommages les plus fréquents causés au câble flexible. Si l'un d'eux se produit, remplacez le câble immédiatement.

• Un arrachement complet à n'importe quel endroit du câble.
• Un arrachement partiel le long du câble. Cela se produit fréquemment sur la partie intérieure de l'appareil, mais cela peut aussi se produire à l'endroit où la partie extérieure entre en contact avec la porte.
• Une bosselure sur le câble au niveau de la partie intérieure de l'appareil.
• Une bosselure le long du câble, très fréquente sur la partie intérieure de l'appareil.
• Une coupure le long des bords, généralement causée par des bords irréguliers ou tranchants lorsque le câble passe à travers la porte.
