Two-Step Verification means that you can only access your Ring account by providing another piece of information besides a password. The first time you access a Ring product on a new device (phone or PC), you will have to enter a second piece of information in addition to your password. This second piece of information is a randomly generated code that will be sent to your mobile phone. Enter the code and you will have access to your account. This helps keep your account secure so we know your are the owner, not an unauthorized person trying to get into your account.
Be sure you know your password before you start the two-step verification process.
Why should I use Two-Step Verification?
Two-Step Verification provides an extra layer of security that a single step verification system such as a password alone cannot provide. For example, if someone were to gain access to your password, they would not be able to access your Ring account because you would receive a randomly generated access code on your mobile device.
Will Two-Step Verification disable anything else I've set up such as Guest Users, Alexa integrations, or Device Groups?
No. Two-Step Verification is simply a security measure. It will not affect any other settings on your Ring app.
Will I have to enter my Two-Step Verification every time I answer a call or use the Live View?
No. Under most circumstances the way you interact with the Ring app will not change.
How do I change the phone number on my account?
You can change the phone number on your account on your Ring account page.
How do I access my account if I don't have access to my mobile device?
You will need to contact the Customer Support team.
What happens if I receive an authentication code that I didn't request?
If this happens there is a possibility that there's been an attempt to compromise your account. We recommend accessing your account and changing your password as soon as possible.
