Using the Record Motion Control to Completely Disable Recording

You can completely disable the motion recording function on your Ring Device by using the Record Motion control in your Ring app.

When the Record Motion function on your Ring device is turned on, it will make a note of any motion in its field of view and detail it in your device's Event History. Should you turn on your Motion Alerts control, it will also send you a notification each time it detects motion.

What's the difference between the Record Motion control and the Motion Alert control?

The Motion Alert control only controls whether or not you receive notifications when your device detects motion. When turned off, you will not receive notifications, however, your device's motion detector will still be turned on and any motion it detects will be recorded in your device's History log. By using the Record Motion control, you can completely disable all motion detection.
