Are Smart Lights compatible with other Ring products?

Yes. Ring Bridge is the central hub that integrates Ring Smart Lights, Motion Sensors, and Transformers into your Ring system. Bridge connects to the Ring app using your home wifi network and connects to other Ring Smart Lighting products using a proprietary long-range communication protocol.

Without Ring Bridge, Ring Smart Lights function only as standard motion-sensing lights. With a Bridge, you can control whole groups of lights at once and be notified via the Ring app when any light or Motion Sensor senses movement.

It also lets you leverage the lighting and motion sensing features of Ring Smart Lights to enhance your Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras. For example, if you’re subscribed to Ring Protect, your Ring Doorbell can begin recording video as soon motion is detected by your Pathlight near the curb. This provides footage that captures motion events earlier.

Do I need a Ring Protect subscription to use Ring Smart Lighting?

No. All Ring Smart Lighting products provide smart controls functionality with or without a Ring Protect subscription. Ring Protect is required to enable video recording for any Ring Doorbell or Security Camera you plan to link to Ring Smart Lights.

What type of lighting elements are used in Ring Smart Lights?

Ring Smart Lights feature high-efficiency LED lights.

Do Ring Smart Lights work with Alexa?

Yes, Echo devices support all Ring Smart Lighting devices, including the Ring Smart Lighting transformer.

How often will I need to change batteries?

All battery-powered Ring Smart Lighting products are designed to last around a year on one set of batteries under normal use. Battery life is dependent on device settings, usage, and other factors. Brightness may decrease as battery life is depleted.

Ring does not recommend using discount battery brands as they may not provide reliable power performance. In addition, when changing out batteries, we recommend using all new batteries from the same brand. Even one battery with insufficient power can cause unreliable device performance.

Can Ring Smart Lights be set to activate during the day?

Yes. If desired, you can change settings in the Ring app to let motion trigger your lights in the daytime.
