Which Ring and Amazon products support two-way communication?
Two-way communication is supported on all Echo Smart Speakers (like Echo Dot) and Smart Displays (like Echo Show) and compatible Fire TV devices. Any Ring doorbell or security camera can be configured for two-way communication.

How do I start using two-way communication?
To start using two-way communication, just say "Alexa, answer [camera or doorbell name]" or "Alexa, talk to [camera or doorbell name]."

You can also enter a Live View by saying "Alexa, show me [camera or doorbell name]." If you wish to speak, you can unmute that mic to start a conversation.

Where is this feature available?
Two-way communication is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Canada, and Mexico. When the feature is available in other areas, Ring will announce it through Ring.com and on Ring Skill description

What do I say to my Alexa-enabled device to start a two-way communication?

  • “Alexa, stop”
  • “Alexa, stop the communication”

Can I disable two-way communication?
You cannot disable two-way communication, but you can say "Alexa, show me the [camera or doorbell name]" which will show you the front door without turning the microphone on.

Can I use the Alexa app for two-way communication?
No. In order to use two-way communication with a Ring device through a mobile device, you will have to use the Ring app.

My Alexa is unable to connect to my front door.
If your Alexa-enabled device is unable to connect to Live View please follow these steps to troubleshoot your device.

  • Make sure Live View is enabled on your device:
    • Open your Ring app.
    • Tap the three-lined icon in the upper-left corner to open the side menu.
    • Tap Devices.
    • Tap your device.
    • Tap Device Settings
    • Tap Video Settings.
    • Make sure Live View option is enabled.
  • Make sure Live View works for your device on the Ring app:
    • Open your Ring app.
    • Tap the three-lined icon in the upper-left corner to open the side menu.
    • Tap Devices.
    • Tap your device.
    • Tap Live View and make sure Live View in working.
  • Make sure the device is enabled in the Alexa App on your mobile phone:
    • Open your Alexa app
    • Tap Devices.
    • Tap Settings.
    • Tap your Ring device.
    • Make sure the device is enabled.
