How to Use Motion Snooze and Global Snooze

Motion Snooze

Your Ring app will allow you to disable Motion Alerts from a Ring device for a pre-set length of time. This Motion Snooze feature lets you silence your notifications temporarily without editing the device settings. You can avoid excessive notifications during times when there is a lot of activity around your home. Cameras will continue to record and videos will appear in your Event History if you are subscribed to a Ring Protect Plan. 

Note: Motion Snooze is not available when Motion Alerts are turned off in the Ring app. The screen will look like the image below when Motion Alerts are off.

To activate Motion Snooze, follow these instructions: 

  • Open your Ring app.
  • Tap the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard screen.
  • Tap Devices.
  • Tap Motion Snooze.
  • Move the Motion Snooze slider to the desired time you want.
  • Tap the Save Snooze Settings button on the bottom of the screen.

Note: This feature will only affect notifications coming from the Ring app, not from an Alexa-enabled device.

To deactivate Motion Snooze:

  • Open your Ring app.
  • Tap the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard screen.
  • Tap Devices.
  • Tap Motion Snooze.
  • Tap Disable Motion Snooze on the bottom of the screen.

Note: This feature will only affect notifications coming from the Ring App, not from an Alexa-enabled device.

To change the duration of the Motion Snooze:

  • Open your Ring app.
  • Tap the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard screen.
  • Tap Devices.
  • Tap Motion Snooze.
  • Move the Motion Snooze slider to new, desired time you want.

  • Tap the blue save Snooze Motion button on the bottom of the screen.

Note: This feature will only affect notifications coming from the Ring app., not from an Alexa-enabled device.

Global Snooze

Global Snooze is a feature that will allow you to temporarily disable Motion Alerts for all camera-based devices at a location with one action. You'll only have this feature if you have more than one camera or doorbell at a single location. The Global Snooze icon is a crescent moon that will appear at the top right of the screen. When Global Snooze is active the crescent moon icon will appear on the devices that are snoozed. Global Snooze can be activated for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours or 4 hours. 

To activate Global Snooze:

  • Open your Ring app.
  • On the Dashboard screen, tap the half moon icon on the top right.
    • Before Global Snooze is activated the half moon icon on the top right will be white.

  • Move the Motion Snooze slider to desired time you want to snooze all of your cameras.
  • Tap Snooze Motion on the bottom of the screen. 

Once Global Snooze is activated, all of your devices will display a small half moon icon on the bottom right side of the camera preview images on the Dashboard screen. The half moon in the top right will turn blue.

To deactivate Global Snooze:

  • Open your Ring app.
  • On the Dashboard screen, tap the half moon icon on the top right.
    • If Global Snooze is activated, the moon icon will be solid blue.
  • Move the Motion Snooze slider to desired time you want to snooze all of your cameras.
  • Tap Disable Motion Snooze on the bottom of the screen. 
    • When Global Snooze is deactivated, you will no longer see the half moon icon on the camera previews.
