Getting Notifications for Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras

You can get Ring Alerts from your doorbell, when someone presses the button on it and Motion Alerts from your doorbell an/or security cameras when motion is detected.

Within the Motion Settings for each Ring device, you can customize the settings to adjust for Motion Sensitivity, Motion Frequency, Smart Alerts or set up Motion Schedules. Smart Alerts allow to distinguish between people and other types of motion, such as cars, if you subscribe to a Ring Protect plan. Also, some Ring security cameras allow for a Motion Warning, an audible, pre-recorded message when your security camera detects a person.

To access your Ring Alerts and Motion Alerts in the Ring App:

  • Tap the three lines on the top left
  • Tap Devices
    • Tap the device you want to adjust
      • You'll be on the Device Dashboard screen
  • On the top of the screen, you can toggle on (blue):
      • Ring Alerts
      • Motion Detection
      • Motion Alerts

  • Tap the tile on the bottom of the screen for the Motion Settings
      • Under Motion Settings you can adjust Motion Sensitivity
