Ring Video Doorbell can operate in two ways. It can be powered by its internal battery, which must be periodically recharged, or connected to existing doorbell wires.
A wireless, battery-powered Ring Doorbell will last between six months and a year before needing to be recharged. For more information about battery life and recharging your Ring Doorbell, visit the charging guide.
A Ring Doorbell can also be connected to an existing mechanical or electronic doorbell chime that operates at a voltage between 8VAC and 24VAC. Once connected, pressing the button on your Ring Doorbell will trigger your existing chime. The doorbell wires will keep your battery charged as well. (Note: Depending on usage and temperature, the power from the doorbell wires may not be enough to keep your Ring charged, and the battery percentage may drop slightly over time.)
