Frequently asked questions
What comes in the Ring Alarm box?
The Ring Alarm kit contains all the components you need to install and activate your new security system:
- Base Station: The heart of your system, the Base Station connects all your Ring Alarm security devices, Ring Video Doorbells, Security Cameras, and other smart devices. It monitors your sensors in order to trigger break-in or fire alarms while supporting cellular and battery backup if your internet or power go out.
- Keypad: Control your Ring Alarm with the touch of a button by physically arming and disarming your alarm from the Keypad. View system status, receive visual and audio feedback regarding system status changes and events. The Keypad features a convenient rechargeable battery and AC power options.
- Contact Sensor: Mount Contact Sensors to any door or window to monitor whether they’re open or closed. Contact Sensors are battery-operated and can be set up with double-sided tape or using screws.
- Motion Detector: Watch for motion in any area or room with Motion Detectors that observe motion by a passive infrared (PIR) sensor in a 90º radius. Motion Detectors are battery-operated and can be set up with double-sided tape or using screws.
- Range Extender: Strengthen Ring Alarm’s Z-Wave mesh network and extend the signal from the Base Station to better communicate with devices outside of its normal range. The Range Extender also has a battery to ensure Ring Alarm maintains its mesh network if the power goes down.
