Do I need to use everything that comes in the box?
No, you don’t. We’ve included several items for your convenience.
If you already own a Ring Doorbell and you don’t want to drill more holes in your wall, use the adapter plate.
We’ve also included a mounting wedge and a corner wedge, which helps you get a better view from your Ring Video Doorbell 2, depending on where you install it. Click here to learn more about installing a wedge or corner mount.
The diode is only if you have a digital doorbell chime. Click here to learn more about diode installation.
The screw anchors are only if you are installing your Ring Doorbell 2 on a masonry surface, like stucco or concrete.
Does Ring Video Doorbell 2 use a diode for digital doorbell kits?

Which doorbells is Ring Doorbell 2 compatible with?
Ring Video Doorbell 2 is compatible with most mechanical or digital doorbell kits that use transformers between 8 and 24 volts AC. DC transformers are not supported.
What wifi networks is Ring Video Doorbell 2 compatible with?
Ring Video Doorbell 2 is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 gHz frequencies.
What is the recommended Internet speed for Ring Video Doorbell 2?
For best streaming performance, we recommend 2 Mbps upload and download speeds though the video will function at slower speeds.
Does Ring Video Doorbell 2 use data all the time or just when it's activated?
Ring Video Doorbell 2 will only use data when it’s activated by an event or when you access the camera via the Ring app. If Ring Video Doorbell 2 doesn’t detect motion or isn’t activated with the app, it won’t use your data.
Does Ring Video Doorbell 2 keep footage for later review?
It can, however, this requires a subscription to Ring Protect Plan, an optional service that allows you to view, save, and share up to 180 days of video.
