How to update the Ring app on Android

Version 1.9.39 of the Ring app for Android contains a number of enhancements and improvements.

If you are running an older version of the Ring app, you may experience issues such as:

  • Live events not loading
  • Recordings not playing
  • App crashes when trying to play recordings

To resolve these issues, simply upgrade the Ring app on your Android device to the latest version.

You can update your Ring app manually, or allow it to be updated automatically. Keeping your Ring app updated gives you access to the latest features and improves app security and stability.

How to Set up Automatic Updates

To set up automatic updates for the Ring app on your Android device:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app .
  2. Tap Menu  My apps & games.
  3. Select the Ring app.
  4. Tap More .
  5. Check the box next to "Auto-update."
  • The app will update automatically when updates are available.

Note: If an account on your device has a sign-in error, your Ring app may not update automatically, and you'll need to fix this first. 

How to Update the Ring app manually

To update the Ring app manually:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app .
  2. Tap Menu  My apps & games.
  3. Select the Ring app.
  4. If you don't have the latest version of Ring app, you'll see a button labeled "Update."
  5. Tap Update to update your Ring app to the latest version.

Tip: In some cases, you may need to restart your device to update your Ring app.
