Things to check

Check your power supply. If your device is battery-operated, check to see whether your battery is low:

  1. Open the
    Ring app.
  2. Tap
    menu (≡)
on the top left corner of your
    Dashboard
    .
  3. Tap
    Devices.
  4. Tap your device.
  5. Tap
    Device Health
    .
  6. Check the battery charge under
    Power Status
    .

If you have a hardwired device without a battery, check to make sure the device is receiving adequate power in the Device Health section of the Ring app.

Note: You can also try rebooting your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in again.

Check your wires, light switch or timer, if applicable. After you temporarily disconnect the power, check all of the wires leading into the device to make sure they're securely connected.

If you have a device such as a Floodlight Cam, and it's connected to a light switch or a timer, make sure the switch is set to “on” and that the timer is working properly.

Check your consumer unit. You may have blown a fuse and need to reset the device.

Things to try

Move your router. If you have a continuous problem with your device disconnecting from wifi or a weak signal, you could try moving your router. If it's obstructed by furniture, walls, doors, or other dense material, signal strength and performance could be reduced.

Quick tip: If you're frequently experiencing wifi performance issues or poor device signal strength, adding a Ring Chime Pro may help. The Chime Pro acts as both a wifi extender and an audible doorbell chime for your Ring devices. If there is significant distance between your router and Ring device, placing the Chime Pro partway between them can improve performance.

Once you've set up your Chime Pro, you can follow the steps above to reconnect to the Chime Pro Network.

Change your wifi network, if applicable. If you have upgraded from a 2.4 GHz network to a 5 GHz network, your Ring device may not be able to find the 5 GHz network because it is not compatible with 5 GHz.

Some Ring devices can connect to 5 GHz via channels 100 and above. Channels 36-64 are not available. Find out which Ring device you have in the Ring app.
