Receiving Person Alerts and Package Alerts with Smart Alerts

Smart Alerts notify you when Ring detects people, packages and vehicles on select devices.

This feature requires a compatible Ring Home subscription.

Setting up Smart Alerts

Smart Alerts work with most battery, solar, plug-in and wired Ring products.

Enabling and adjusting Smart Alerts

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.

3. Tap your device's Settings.

4. Tap

   Motion Settings

   • To activate Smart Alerts, tap

     Enable Feature

6. Choose your preferred alerts for

   Person

   Vehicle

   Other Motion

   • Vehicle Detection is currently available for:
     • Floodlight Cam Wired Pro
     • Floodlight Cam Wired Plus
     • Spotlight Cam Plus
     • Spotlight Cam Pro
     • Indoor Cam (2nd Gen)
     • Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam
     • Video Doorbell Wired
     • Battery Video Doorbell Pro
     • Battery Video Doorbell Plus
     • Battery Video Doorbell
     • Wired Video Doorbell Pro
   • Check Smart Alerts in the Ring app to see whether you have Vehicle Detection.
7. Tap

   to save new settings. Editing existing settings will save automatically.

Setting up Package Alerts

Package Alerts are available on select Video Doorbells.

Enabling and adjusting Package Alerts

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.

3. Tap your device's Settings.

4. Tap

   Motion Settings

5. Tap

   Smart Alerts

   .
6. Under

   Package Zone

   tap on the bell icon to enable recording and notifications.
7. For first-time activation, follow these additional steps:
   • To enable Package Alerts, tap

     Turn On Feature

   • Create your

     Package Zone

     , then adjust it to surround your delivery area.
   • Tap

     Done

8. Editing existing settings will save automatically.

You will now see Package Alert markers on your Event Timeline. Learn more about the Event Timeline feature.

Package Alerts work best with medium-to-large shipping boxes. Envelopes, tubes, small boxes and food deliveries might not be detected.

Adjusting your Package Zone and Sensitivity

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.

3. Tap your device’s settings.

6. Under Package, tap

   Customize

   .
7. Select

   Package Zone

   to set where your doorbell detects packages.
8. Select

   Package Sensitivity

   to adjust the balance between missed deliveries and unwanted alerts.
   • Note:

     For best Package Alert accuracy, set Motion Sensitivity to highest. This might affect your device’s battery life and increase the number of notifications you receive.
