Pulling Multiple Tabs While Trying to Set Up Devices

I accidentally pulled out all of the device battery tabs at once. What should I do?

If you pulled all the tabs at once and now your devices won't connect then follow the steps below. Please note: You do not need to power down a device that has already successfully paired.

Step 1 - Power down your devices

Contact Sensor and Motion Detector

  • Remove the cover and take out the battery.
  • Leave the batteries out at this time.

  • Unplug from the outlet or charging cable.
  • Leave unplugged at this time.

Range Extender

  • Unplug from the socket.
  • Leave unplugged at this time.

Step 2 - Add your devices, one at a time

Now that the devices are powered down you can start the pairing process again. This time be sure to power on one device at a time. When a device has finished pairing you will need to finish the setup in the app.

To see if a device has paired and finish setting it up within the Ring App:

  1. Tap Menu.
  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Tap Alarm Base Station.

This will take you to the Ring Alarm Devices page. Listed are all the sensors that are connected or waiting to connect. Tap on any device to finish setting it up and then move onto the next one.

I’m just curious - what happened?

The devices that come in your Ring Alarm kit are pre-matched and waiting for you to power them on and set them up. When you power on one of the devices it will start talking to the Base Station. The Base Station will listen for the device and once they hear each other it will begin its pairing process. While completing the pairing process the Base Station stops listening for other devices.

If multiple devices are powered on they will compete with each other and the Base Station can't listen for a signal from individual devices. Because of this some of the devices may have difficulty pairing.
