Solving Lens Flares in your Ring Video Doorbell 2

Question: Video from my Video Doorbell 2 shows strange "lens flare"-like artifacts. What's causing this and how do I fix it?

Answer: The "lens flare" issue is a very unusual problem that occurs when the Ring Video Doorbell 2 is installed on a surface that is bordered by brickwork or other wall sidings that protrude an inch or so above the level of the RVD2 unit. At night this causes the infrared light to reflect off the brickwork and create a series of lens flares that will be visible on the recordings.

This problem can be solved by using a wedge kit and placing the camera above the level of the brickwork.
