It is possible under certain circumstances for your Spotlight Cam to lose its connection to your Wi-Fi network. The image below tells you that your Ring Spotlight cam is offline.
- Network Issues.
- Loss of Power
These are issues with your network itself.
- Check that all of your wires are properly plugged in and that all the lights on the front of the router are green.
- Check to see whether another Wi-Fi device is having a problem connecting to the network.
- Unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. See if your Spotlight Cam automatically reconnects.
If there are no issues with the network, you'll need to investigate your Spotlight Cam.
My Spotlight Cam doesn't have power
Losing power is by far the most common cause of network disconnection. This includes power surges and issues with the power connections.
To check whether your Spotlight Cam has lost its power:
- If the Spotlight Cam is connected to a light switch, check to see if the light switch was flipped off accidentally. Flip the switch back to its "On" position to restore power.
- Firmly press the setup button on top of your Spotlight Cam. If your Spotlight Cam has power, the following things should happen:
- You will hear a voice say "Entering setup mode."
- The light on the bottom of Spotlight Cam will flash.
- If it's night time, walk underneath the motion sensor. If the lights turn on, your Spotlight Cam has power.
- Check your breaker box. You may have blown a fuse and need to reset the Spotlight Cam at the breaker.
Once you've verified it's receiving power, let the device run. Once the light at the bottom stops flashing and glows steadily it should have automatically reconnected to your network.
