Installing your Ring Video Doorbell is a simple process. This article will give you a step-by-step guide.
Note that you should set up your Ring doorbell in your Ring app before mounting it to your door. Click here for information on setting up your Ring doorbell.
For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the range specified below to power your device. For connecting to an existing doorbell system:
- Hardwired transformer (8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA)
Ring Video Doorbell (1st Gen) is not compatible with: DC, halogen, and garden-lighting transformers.
1. Remove your old doorbell button
Note that this step is optional.
2. Line up the mounting bracket
To properly line up the mounting bracket:
- Click the level tool (included in the box) into the mounting bracket.
- Place the mounting bracket next to your door at about chest height.
- Level the mounting bracket using the level tool.
- Mark the positions of the for mounting holes with a pencil.
3. Drill holes
- Use a drill to drill holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.
- If you are mounting the bracket on brick, concrete, or stucco put the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to get the anchors in.
- If you are mounting the bracket on wood or vinyl, just use the included screws.
4. Remove the level tool from the mounting bracket
5. Connect your doorbell wiring to the terminal screws located on the mounting bracket.

6. If your doorbell is digital, install the included diode.

7. Place your Ring Video Doorbell on the mounting bracket.

8. Tighten the security screws
