Using the Motion Sensitivity slider on your Floodlight Cam

How your Ring Floodlight Cam sees the world

In many ways, your Ring Floodlight Cam sees the world the way you do. After you draw a geometric motion zone covering the area you want to see, your Ring Security Camera focuses on that area. The device then monitors the area you've customised for movement.

Your Motion Sensitivity slider tool determines how much motion you want your Ring Floodlight Cam to react to.

This article will teach you to use the Motion Sensitivity slider so you can properly set up your Ring Floodlight Cam and make it a more effective motion detection tool.

Using your Motion Sensitivity slider

There may be things in your environment such as the shadow of a moving tree branch or the sun glinting off a shiny object that may trigger a motion event and send out notifications that you don't really want. You can use the Motion Sensitivity slider to reduce these kinds of motion alerts.

To access Motion Settings:

  • Tap the three lines on the top left of your Ring app.
  • Tap your Ring Floodlight Cam.
  • Tap Motion Settings.
  • Adjust the motion settings according to your preferences.

Getting too many motion alerts?

Activating Person Alerts via Smart Alerts and disabling alerts for other motion prevents you from getting unwanted notifications such as your pets walking in front of your doorbell, car headlights or blowing branches.
