Sharing and downloading your Ring videos

When you have a Ring Protect plan, you can share or download videos from your Ring Video Doorbell or Security Camera via your Ring app or at Ring.com when you're logged in to your account.

There are several different ways to access your videos:

  • Use the main Dashboard — the first screen you see in the Ring app
  • Go to History  — tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner in the Ring app
  • Use the Device Dashboard — tap the menu icon in the Ring app, go to Devices and choose a specific doorbell or camera

You can download videos one at a time from the Ring app, or download up to 50 videos from Ring.com by logging in with the same username and password that you use for the Ring app.

Sharing your Ring videos on a mobile device

  1. Open the Ring app and tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left.
  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Select the Ring device you wish to download a video from.
  4. Tap Event History.
  5. On the Recent Activity screen. scroll to the video you wish to share and tap the arrow on the right of the event to view the video.
  6. Tap the three dots in the bottom right hand corner of the video.
  7. Tap Share.
  8. A menu will pop up that shows a Facebook icon, NextDoor.com logo, email envelope, text message symbol and download icon.
  9. You can select any of these options and follow the prompts to share a video.

Sharing or downloading a video on a computer

Sharing

  1. Log in to your Ring account at ring.com/users/sign_in.
  2. Select the History tab.
  3. Click on the video you want to share.
  4. Click the share icon on the bottom right of the video for Share options.
  5. Follow the prompts to share a video.

Downloading

  1. Log in to your Ring account at ring.com/users/sign_in.
  2. Select the History tab.
  3. Open the video you want to download
  4. Select the download icon on the bottom right. The icon will turn blue and the video will automatically download to your computer.

Note: Adding a star to a video is a way of organising videos so you can find the important ones faster. Putting a star by a video is not the same as downloading. Videos with a star next to them may be deleted at the end of the video storage period if they're not downloaded.  

Downloading multiple videos

You can download up to 50 videos at a time by following these instructions: 

  1. Log in to your account on Ring.com.
  2. Click History.
  3. Click Manage.
  4. Select the videos you want to save by checking the boxes.
  5. Click Download.

On your computer: The videos will be saved to your computer as a zip file in your downloaded files. Once unzipped, each .mp4 file can be opened and viewed individually. Videos will be time stamped.

On your mobile device: 

iOS (Apple) - Videos will be stored in iCloud

Android - Videos will be in your Files app.

Note: You cannot download multiple videos via the Ring app, only at Ring.com.

Sharing or downloading a video on a mobile device

Log in to your Ring account at ring.com/users/sign_in.

Use the same username and password that you use for the Ring app.   

Tap on the three lines on the top left of the Dashboard screen.

  1. Tap History.
  2. Select the video you want to share.
  3. Tap the three dots in the bottom right corner.
    • Tap Share or Download.
    • If sharing, tap an icon to share via Facebook, Nextdoor.com, email or text.
    • The download option will automatically download the video to your mobile device. You can find the video on your mobile device camera images.

Sharing a Ring video with the Ring team

If you have a particularly interesting video, you can share it with the Ring team for a chance to be featured!

  1. Log in to your Ring account at ring.com/users/sign_in.
  2. Click on the Dashboard tab.
  3. Click on the video you wish to share on the left sidebar.
  4. Click on the grey Share button to below your video.
  5. Click on the e-mail envelope.
  6. Send the file to submissions@ring.com.
