Which Ring and Amazon products support two-way communication?

Two-way communication is supported on Amazon Echo Spot and Echo Show devices. Any Ring doorbell or security camera can be configured for two-way communication.

How do I start using two-way communication?

To start using two-way communication, just say "Alexa, answer [camera or doorbell name]" or "Alexa, talk to [camera or doorbell name]."

You can also enter a Live View by saying "Alexa, show me [camera or doorbell name]." If you wish to speak, you can unmute that mike to start a conversation.

Where is this feature available?

Two-way communication is currently only available in the United States. When the feature is available in other areas, Ring will announce it through Ring.com and via the Ring app.

How does my Echo device let me know that someone is at my door or has triggered a security camera?

When a motion alert is triggered on your Ring device, your Amazon Echo will flash yellow, send an audible chime and announce that someone is at the front door (or back door/side yard/etc. depending on what you've named your Ring device.)

Note: If you have multiple Echo devices, all of the devices will make the announcement. This can be adjusted through the Alexa app on your mobile device.

Can I disable two-way communication?

You cannot disable two-way communication, but you can say "Alexa, show me the [camera or doorbell name]" which will show you the front door without turning the microphone on.

Can I use the Alexa app for two-way communication?

No. In order to use two-way communication with a Ring device through a mobile device, you will have to use the Ring app.

Can two or more Alexa-enabled devices be used to talk on a single camera/doorbell at the same time?

No. Only one Alexa-enabled device will be able to connect to a Ring camera/doorbell at a time. If another Echo device tries to connect to the camera/doorbell when a conversation is in progress, they will receive a message that says "I'm unable to connect. [camera or doorbell name] is currently busy."
