Ring Alarm (2nd Gen) with the Keypad

How to Enable Guest User Scheduling for Ring Alarm

You can now provide people in your circle of trust—dog walkers, babysitters, contractors, and more—with limited access to your Ring Alarm, only during specific hours and on days that you choose.

The Guest User Scheduling feature gives Alarm Owners the ability to create schedules to determine when their Guest Users have permission to arm and disarm the Ring Alarm system using the Keypad during a specific date and time frame. Owners have the option to customize schedules for a single day and time or multiple days and times each week when access is granted.

If a Guest User attempts to arm or disarm1 at any time outside of the schedule created by the Owner, the Guest User’s access code for Ring Alarm will not arm or disarm, and the Owner and Shared Users will get a push notification1 to alert them of the failed attempt.

To add a schedule to an existing Guest User:

Only account Owners can create Guest User schedules. To do this:

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap on the
    Menu.
  3. Tap
    Settings
    .
  4. Tap
    Users.
  5. Tap on an existing
    Guest User.
  6. Tap
    Add Schedule
    .
  7. Enter a name for the schedule, and select the specific start and end times for the schedule. You can also select the
    All Day
    option.
  8. Select which
    Day
    (s) you’d like to apply this schedule.
  9. Tap
    Save.

You’ll then be taken to the Guest User’s profile where you’ll see the schedule listed.

To create a new Guest User:

  1. Open the Ring app and tap on the
    Menu.
  2. Tap
    Settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Users.
  4. Tap the + (plus sign) to add a new user. Then select
    Add Guest User
    .
  5. Enter your Guest User’s name and create an access code. Then tap
    Save
    .
  6. You’ll be asked if you’d like to add a schedule for their Alarm access. You can tap Yes, and follow the steps outlined above.

Account Owners can create multiple schedules for each of their Guest Users. If an Owner removes all schedules, the Guest User will have unlimited Ring Alarm access. Guest Users are not required to be scheduled and can continue to have unlimited access to the Ring Alarm.

You will see history events within the app when a Guest User’s schedule has been added, edited, or removed.

Note: Smart Locks Not Supported

At this time, Guest User schedules only apply to the Alarm Keypad. They do not apply to smart locks. If your Guest User has an access code which works in your smart lock and uses the code in the lock outside of the scheduled hours, they will be able to get inside your home and set off your Ring Alarm—without being able to disarm. You may be assessed a false alarm fee if this is not a real alarm.

(This feature is available for all Neighbors with a Ring Alarm. Professional Monitoring is not required to use this feature.)
