Using Live View
Use Live View to stream real-time video from your Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras in the Ring app or on Ring.com without a Ring Protect subscription. Both Account Owners and Shared Users can access Live View.
If you have a Ring Protect subscription, you replay Live View events recorded on your Ring cameras and doorbells. Live View videos can be recorded up to 10 minutes in length.
Actions available in Live View
If you have several doorbells or security cameras at the same Location, you can access Live View for each device separately in the Ring app or by logging in on Ring.com.
Depending on which Ring device you’re using, there are certain actions you can take while using Live View.
- Enable Sound.Listen in on what’s going on.
- Select thespeaker buttonto enable.
- Two-Way Talk. Speak to who’s there.
- Select themicrophone buttonto start talking.
- Activate Siren.Sound the security camera siren.
- Select theexclamation buttonand confirm on the pop-up dialog.
- Turn on Lights. Turn on your lights.
- Select thelight buttonto turn on or off.
Using Live View in the Ring app
Account owners and Shared Users can use Live View in the Ring app to stream real-time video.
Accessing Live View in the Ring app
- Open theRing app.
- Tap themenu (≡).
- TapDevices, and select a doorbell or security camera.
- Tap theLive Viewbuttonto start.
- Depending on which device you’re accessing, you can use certain controls:
- Enable soundby tapping the speaker button (available for doorbells and security cameras) to hear what's happening.
- Use Two-Way Talkby tapping the microphone icon (available for doorbells and security cameras) to speak to who's there.
- Turn on lightsby tapping the light button (available for security cameras with lights).
- Activate the sirenby tapping the exclamation button (available for security cameras).
- To end Live View, tap theEnd Livebutton.
Using Live View on Ring.com
Account owners and Shared Users can also use Live View on Ring.com after logging in with the same username and password used to access the Ring app.
Accessing Live View on Ring.com
- using the same email and password that you use for the Ring app.
- Select one of theSnapshotimages under theCamerassection for a camera or doorbell. Live View will open.
- Depending on which device you’re accessing, you can use certain controls:
- Enable soundby selecting the speaker button (available for doorbells and cameras) to hear what's happening.
- Use Two-Way Talkby selecting the microphone icon (available for doorbells and cameras) to speak to who's there.
- Your browser may ask you to give Ring.com permission to access your microphone. If this happens, selectAllow.
- Turn on lightsby selecting the light button (available for security cameras with lights).
- Activate the camera sirenby selecting the exclamation button (available for security cameras).
- To end Live View, select theEnd Livebutton.
How to use Live View Picture-in-Picture (PiP)
Live View Picture-in-Picture is a Ring Protect Plus or Ring Protect Pro subscription feature for the Ring app.
If you’re in a Live View and you go to another screen or switch to a different app, you’ll still be able to see that Live View in a small window in the corner of your screen (picture-in-picture). To close out of the PiP view, simply tap the x icon. While using Live View Picture-in-Picture, you won’t be able to access Live View controls.
- To use Live View controls likelightsorsiren, tap the Live View PiP window, then tap thefull screen icontoreturn to the Ring appand continue the Live View with access to all controls.
- You can alsotap the xtoclose the PiP windowand end the Live View, but you will have to open the Ring app and start a new Live View to access controls.
How to turn off Picture-in-Picture
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap themenu (≡).
- TapDevices, and select a doorbell or security camera.
- OpenLive View.
- Tap theMorebutton in the bottom right.
- ToggleLive View Picture-in-Pictureto off.

Multi-Cam Live View
Multi-Cam Live View — available for Ring Protect Plus and Pro subscribers — lets you start Live View on Ring.com for up to four Ring devices at a single location simultaneously.

Please note that Multi-Cam Live View is not available in the Ring app at this time and can only be accessed by logging in to your account on the Ring site.
Turning off starting Live View from a Camera Preview
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap themenu (≡).
- SelectDevicesand choose a camera or doorbell.
- SelectVideo Settings.
- ToggleTap Camera Preview for Live Viewto off.
- Now, tapping theCamera Preview tileon yourDashboardwill take you to that device'sinstead of automatically starting Live View.
